Realistic Expectations
A quick, honest look at how your blooms may change as they’re preserved.
How Colors Change
Drying is what makes preservation possible, but it also changes color.
As flowers dry, their pigments concentrate and naturally oxidize, so the “fresh” colors you see on the wedding day won’t look identical once preserved.
Most blooms darken as they dry, and some may shift in hue. For example, reds can deepen, purples/blues can mute, and greens often become more olive or earthy.
Whites and pale tones are the most reactive and commonly warm into ivory, tan, or amber. Dry florals can also fade faster in bright or sunny rooms, so keeping your piece out of direct light helps it stay truer for longer.
White Florals Naturally Amber
White flowers shift in hue the most. When moisture is removed during preservation, they'll transition to an
antique ivory or amber tone.
This is a natural reaction, not a flaw. Many like the natural look of dried florals, but if you prefer bright white blooms, we highly recommend adding Color Restoration to your order.

Aging With Grace
Just as your marriage matures and evolves over time, so too will your floral preservation. We use the highest quality UV-resistant materials available, but nature cannot be frozen forever. Your keepsake will develop a vintage character, serving as a timeline of your years together.
Resin Keepsakes
All epoxy resin, even high-grade UV resistant formulas, will eventually amber. This oxidation process creates a warm, golden hue over the years, giving your block a nostalgic, antique glow.
Frames & Shadow Boxes
Without resin to seal them, exposed flowers in frames may fade faster or develop slight textural changes (wrinkling) as humidity fluctuates. This creates a delicate, fine-art parchment effect.
Placement Matters
To slow the aging process, always display your keepsakes away from direct sunlight and high humidity. Think of them like a watercolor painting: precious and needing protection.
The Human Touch
Every piece at BCC is poured, sanded, and polished, and preserved by hand, not a machine. This means your keepsake will have unique character.
You may notice micropores or small bubbles (common in smaller, intricate pieces) or faint layer lines (visible in larger, deep-pour blocks). These are not flaws, but the natural results of resin curing. We create every piece with display in mind, ensuring the front face captures the beauty and spirit of your flowers perfectly.
